Swedish (relaxation) Massage
Swedish massage is a full body treatment which features long, gliding strokes that relax muscles. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release congestion from the muscles. It is the most popular massage modality. This full body massage, increase circulation, and leaves you feeling refreshed.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue Massage is a more intense form of bodywork that targets the deep layers of connective tissue and muscle throughout the body. Adhesions (muscle knots) are formed in the tendons, ligaments and muscles and are caused by injuries, stress, or chronic muscle tension. These adhesions can block proper blood circulation, impede natural movement and cause inflammation and pain. When the muscles are deeply massaged, blood flow throughout the body is increased. The better blood flow reduces inflammation and therefore relieves pain. Deep tissue massage breaks down the adhesions to restore natural movement and reduce pain, and repeated massage sessions can break up and even eliminate the presence of scar tissue.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is best utilized in 3 applications which are, remedial (to improve a debilitating condition), maintenance, and event (pre, inter, and post). This massage modality decreases injury potential by helping to prevent acute injuries (muscle tears) as well as chronic injuries stemming from wear and tear (tendonitis). Regular massage allows the muscles and soft tissue to stay supple and healthy, lengthened and flexible and free from adhesions. By increasing circulation and assisting the body’s healing processes and breaking down scar tissue and adhesions, sports massage can help chronic injuries get better and enhance performance.
Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants for healing and can be added to any massage session. We use therapeutic grade essential oils and are diffused or directly inhaled to enhance relaxation and/or applied to the skin to promote healing during a massage session.
Prenatal Massage
During pregnancy the body goes through intense changes as the baby grows. Prenatal massage is designed to help relax the mother to be and may help relieve common discomforts such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, joint pain, and edema.
Before scheduling your prenatal massage appointment it is important to speak with your health care provider to seek approval. Some conditions may be contraindicated for massage therapy during pregnancy. Women with normal, low-risk pregnancies can benefit greatly from a professional massage.
Hot Stone Massage
The therapist uses hot stones to help massage and heal the body. While holding the heated stones in their palms, steadily slides the stones all over your back and legs. Hot stone massage has proven to be an effective form of massage for treating different health conditions and could even help you release stress. The heat soothes aching and tired muscles by penetrating deeper muscles in a less invasive manner.
Hand, Foot & Scalp Massage
Hand, foot, and scalp massage aims to help reduce stress, relieve headaches, de-congest clogged reflex points, stimulate circulation (which strengthens hair follicles on the scalp), aids in deep relaxation, and overall feels amazing! The scalp massage is preformed using warmed oil such as coconut oil, olive oil, or sweet almond oil, mixed with your choice of essential oils such as melaleuca, peppermint, rosemary, ylang ylang, and lavender. It is important to note that there is one shower and is available on a first come, first use basis. If you decide not to utilize the shower, you will be leaving your appointment with the oils still in your hair.
Couple’s Massage Lesson
The couples lesson is 90-min session where the massage therapist teaches couples to effectively massage each other using various techniques. Each person in the couple will spend half the time learning the techniques that will benefit their partner and half the time lying on the massage table.
